Meeting Minutes for meeting held on April 2, 2003

Meeting called to order by Terri Gregersen at 8:03 a.m.

 

New members and businesses were welcomed.  Marie Doran reported that Hospice’s retail shop, The Encore Shop, is now accepting donations.

 

Minutes of the last meeting were distributed and approved.  In the future, minutes will be posted on pecweb.com.  Janet Fuenty will attempt to e-mail minutes to members.

 

Treasurer’s report was distributed, reviewed and approved as written.

 

Committee Reports

 

Finance and Administration Committee, Chairperson, Joy Seaton, indicated that membership dues continue to be received.

 

Membership Committee, Chairperson, Janet Fuenty, stated memberships continue to be received. 

 

Welcome Center Committee Chairperson, Joan Cunningham, reported that the Village will eventually have tourism information available in their new building.  The Village Hall will be open Monday through Friday, and the Welcome Center will be open on Saturdays.

 

The Welcome Center is VERY grateful to the following local businesses and volunteers for installing a new sewer line for the museum.  Their generosity saved the Welcome Center, the Pecatonica Heritage Museum and the Pec Playhouse Theatre thousands of dollars.

We encourage all our members to thank these organizations and individuals by purchasing their products and services.

 

Streetscape Committee   Rex Lender has agreed to install a new fuse.

 

The lighting timers will be changed to come on at 8:00 p.m.

 

Thanks to Dan Barber for removing the evergreens from the planters.

 

$300.00 was approved for purchasing flowers from Bomgarden’s Flower Farm.  The Garden Club usually plants the flowers in the containers.

 

Advertising and Business Promotion committee Chairperson, Tara Thiesen, will be presenting Golden Hammer awards on Friday, April 25th, at the Encore Shop, Country Gate Quilting, and Unique Solutions.  She will also be presenting a Golden Shovel to Dean’s for their new building.  Anyone interested in participating should meet at the Pecatonica Chiropractic Clinic at noon on the 25th.

 

Tara also expressed her appreciation for the positive newspaper coverage given for last month’s Golden Hammer awards by the Gazette.

 

Crooked River Days Chairperson, Don Sandell will be responsible for newspaper advertising for the festival.  The Lions Club is expected to sponsor a Walk/Run.  US Bank will again sponsor the popular haystack hunt.  Other members that intend to sponsor an event should contact Don or Terri in order to include their event in promotional materials.

 

George Anderson has received the carnival tickets.  Each ticket is one dollar ($1.00) and is good for one ride at the carnival.  Businesses may purchase tickets from George and may use them for promotional give aways.

 

George Anderson also announced that the Memorial Day parade committee is taking orders for Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  They are $6.00 per dozen and the proceeds will help support the parade.

 

Community Calendar will be posed on pecweb.com.  Not-for-profit organizations may e-mail the details of their event to pecweb@aeroinc.net for inclusion on the calendar.

 

Businesses can post their special sales and events on their websites through PIA.  Instructions on how to create and change PIA web pages were sent out with last month’s minutes.

 

Old Business

There will be a speaker, Lloyd Faulkner, on Tuesday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m. at U.S. Bank.  Mr. Faulkner is an excellent speaker, who is quoted as saying, “If you don’t get involved in politics, politics will get involved in your business.”  All are invited to attend this 15 – 20 minute informative presentation.

 

The bulk rate stamp and return address stamp will be kept by Terri Gregersen at Poggioli’s Custom Flooring for members’ use.

 

New Business

 

Discussion was had regarding the Village police using Welcome Center property for a speed trap.  Membership in attendance agreed that such was not very welcoming.  Terri Gregersen will send a letter to the Village.

 

Discussion was had regarding the downtown parking problem.  All were encouraged to think of means by which to alleviate the problem.

               

The officers board meeting was scheduled for April 10th at noon.
