Committee Reports
Finance and Administration Committee: No discussion.
Membership Committee: No discussion.
Streetscape Committee: See discussion below regarding the lighting project.
Advertising and Business Promotion: No discussion.
Summer Festival Committee: No accurate figures regarding whether PIA made or lost money were available, although preliminary indications are that we may have broken even. PIA incurred approximately $7921.00 for electrical work done by Rex Lender. This figure includes Lender Electric’s generous donation of $629.75. A large portion of the electrical bill is for work that needed to be completed to build cables and boxes to supply power to the festival and will not need to be incurred again. The cables are stored at John Moyer’s building and Jackie Moyer has the keys to the boxes. Skinner’s car show was a rounding success, impressing even an event organizer from Chicago. Skinner’s has donated $450.00 from excess proceeds of the car show. The tent bill is still outstanding, but sponsors have already paid the $3,000.00 anticipated. Tara Theisen reported that she was pleased with the performance of Pecatonica Chiropractic Center’s booth. Additionally, several organizations made money to support their causes. Members heard that the Durand Music Boosters and the Women of Westlake were pleased with the results of their fundraising efforts. Jackie Moyer pointed out that the festival was a success for its bringing of various organizations together. PIA worked with the Winnebago County Fair Board, the Pecatonica Village Board and the Sumner Park Board. PIA wishes to extend its sincere thanks to these organizations, the volunteers, participants, sponsors, merchants and the Pecatonica community for their enthusiasm and hard work. The next meeting of the festival committee will meet to evaluate the successes and failures of this year’s festival. Please plan to attend and bring your observations, comments and concerns to the meeting at the Village Hall on July 7, 2005, at 6:00 p.m.
Lighting Project. Josh Meyers, the electrician working on the lighting project, was in attendance to answer questions regarding the project. According to him, he needs to install control boxes and GFI’s in order to make the project safe. He has completed approximately one-fourth of the work and has already used up $1,900.00 of the approximate $2,600.00 that PIA had allotted to this portion of the project. It was generally agreed that we needed to have a better estimate for the cost of the installation before we committed to complete the project, or ask members to contribute more for the project, or scrap the project. Mr. Meyers will supply us with an estimate of the amount necessary to pay him for his time to estimate the cost of installing the lights for each building.
Meeting Location. Janet Fuenty asked to address the members present regarding the decision last month to move the location of our monthly meetings to the Village Hall. She addressed the members and moved that the meeting remain at Stonewall Café. The motion failed. Hereafter, meetings will be held at the Village Hall.
New Business: None
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
Next meeting will be Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. at the Pecatonica Village Hall.
The next meeting for the Festival Committee will be at 6:00 p.m. on July 7 at the Pecatonica Village Hall.
