Welcome to the Village of Winnebago. We are located about 15 minutes west of Rockford Illinois. Travelers on U.S. 20 will recognize Winnebago Corners at the north edge of town. There, a good choice of gas stations and restaurants serve the traveler and townsfolk alike.

The Community

Winnebago has a wonderful School system. Our Public Library is one of the finest in the state. We have numerous denominations of churches, both in Winnebago and nearby. Winnebago is host to a small town traditional Independence Day Celebration that culminates in a fantastic fireworks show. People come from neighboring towns to help celebrate the holiday. Commerce

We have two areas of commerce, Our traditional Historic Business district offers several quaint stores, eateries and local government offices. The Winnebago Corners Corridor, the newer center of commerce is where the Clinic, Post Office and banks, more restaurants and the gas stations are. Winnebago is hometown for many businesses. Miller & Buettner maintain offices here. The First National Bank and Trust is located in town. Winnebago has an active Chamber of Commerce.

Recreation

The nearby Severson Dells Forest Preserve provides natural recreation Opportunities. The Victorian Veranda Bed & Breakfast accommodates overnight guests. Winnebago is located on the Pecatonica Prairie and Recreation Path. The old train depot downtown is a landmark for bicyclists to watch for. Downtown also has a children's park. Winnebago is a popular place to start on the trail. Nearby Westlake Village offers a champion 18 hole golf course, Beach and clubhouse.

Please House a Foreign Exchange Student

Into Edventures Foreign Exchange Program is looking for host families for the upcoming school year (2005/2006)

We have many students to choose from. They range in age between 15 & 18, can speak English & are above average students. We are looking for homes that can provide these student with guidance, a place to sleep, ability to show them the American Culture and willingness to learn about a different culture! This is a very rewarding opportunity for both the student and family!
